Closed parks: Park closed for aerial and ground pest control operation
The following parks will be closed from 4pm Sunday 6th April to 5pm Friday 11th April for an aerial pest control operation.
- Abercrombie Karst Conservation Reserve (including Mt Gray mine site & Grove Creek Falls)
- Abercrombie River National Park & State Conservation Area (Bummaroo Ford Campground remains OPEN)
- Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve
- Kanangra-Boyd National Park (The Six Foot Track from Cox's River to Jenolan Caves Road remains OPEN) Ground shooting operations undertaken during this period.
- Turon National Park
- Yerranderie State Conservation Area (Access to Yerranderie Regional Park along the Oberon-Colong stock route remains OPEN)

Fire bans: Kanangra Reserves
A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed.
However Wombeyan Caves campground in Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve is exempt.
During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Other planned events: Notice of 1080 ongoing program
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Monday 23rd September 2024 to Tuesday 23rd September 2025. The operation will use a Felixer containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral cats, and approved meat baits, meat bait products, and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPE) for the control of foxes and wild dogs.
The program will be conducted in Nattai National Park.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Deer control program in Upper Nepean State Conservation Area from 24 March - 30 June 2025
Upper Nepean State Conservation Area (UNSCA) will be conducting a feral deer management program between 5:00pm and 6:00am, from Monday 24 March 2025 - Monday 30 June 2025.
This program is part of our ongoing efforts to reduce the significant impact of deer on native plants and animals, including threatened species.
- The control method will involve use of firearms by qualified and experienced contractors and staff.
Please note, UNSCA is entirely within the WaterNSW Special Area and is permanently closed to public access.

Safety alerts: Weed Spraying works
NSW NPWS will be working with contractors to complete a weed spraying program within the following reserves:
- Guula Ngurra National Park
- Bangadilly National Park
- Wollondilly River Nature Reserve
- Nattai National Park
- Nattai State Conservation Area.
The main weed being sprayed is Blackberry but other environmental weeds might be treated at the same time. Do not harvest or eat blackberry fruit within these areas.
