Other planned events: Bega Swamp, Packers Swamp, Nunnock Swamp and Alexanders Hut closed for ground pest control operation
The Bega Swamp section of Wadbilliga National Park as well as Packers Swamp/Nunnock Swamp/ Dragon Swamp sections of South East Forest National Park, will be closed from 8am Monday 28th April to 8am Saturday 10th May for a ground pest control operation.
The closed areas include:
- Nunnock campground
- Nunnock grasslands walking tracks
- Alexanders Hut
- Alexanders Hut campground
- Packers Swamp
- Dragon Swamp
- Bega Swamp
This operation will involve ground shooting of deer and feral pigs during day time or night as required. It aims to reduce the significant impact invasive species have on native plants and animals including threatened species. Other pest animals, including foxes and wild dogs may be targeted if observed during the operation.
Park closure warning signs will be placed at entrances to the shooting area. Do not enter the closed area during shooting periods Penalties apply for non-compliance.
The following campgrounds will remain open to the public:
- Six Mile Creek campground
- Postmans campground

Closed areas: Park closed for aerial shooting for feral animal control
The following sections of park will be closed to the public from 2pm Sunday 6th April until 2pm Friday 11th April 2025 for an aerial pest control operation:
- Araluen Nature Reserve
- Badja Swamps Nature Reserve
- Berlang State Conservation Area
- Deua National Park (West of Merricumbene Fire Trail) including:
- Frogs Hole Nature Reserve
- Majors Creek Conservation Area
- South East Forest National Park (Nunnock Swamp section) including:
- Alexanders Hut Campground
- Nunnock campground
- Postmans campground
- Wadbilliga National Park – West of Wadbilliga
Campgrounds in Wadbilliga National Park will remain open during this operation.
This program will involve aerial shooting during daylight hours. Feral species targeted under this program include deer, goats, pigs, foxes and other pests. It aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including threatened species.
Closure signs will be established at all visitor access points to the shooting area. Visitors should not enter the shooting area during the closure period.
