Closed areas: Mulgowan Artsite closed due to upgrade

Gundabooka Yapa ( Mulgowan) Area will be closed to the public from Monday 28th April 2025 and will reopen 30th June 2025.

 

The Yapa (Mulgowan) Art site will be under construction and not accessible for this period. 

 

This closure may need to be extended and notifications will be update as the project happens.

Closed areas: Peery Lake Closed

Access to Peery Lake will be closed from 1st June at 0600 hours until 6th June at 2000 hours for pest control works.  The closure is for Peery, Mandalay and Arrow Bar sections of Paroo-Darling National Park.

Floodwaters are rising along the Darling River and the Coach and Horses campground has been closed.  The road to Wanaaring also remains closed due to rain so there is no access to the Peery day use area.   For further information please contact the Broken Hill National Parks office on 08 8084 2880.

Fire bans: Park fire ban for Paroo-Darling National Park

There is a 'no solid fuel fire policy' in Paroo-Darling National Park all year round. This park fire ban will remain in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, please contact the local park office before using a gas and/or electric barbecue or cooker. Penalties apply for non-compliance. To find out more about fire bans in parks and reserves, including your responsibilities, visit NSW National Parks safety page.
