There is a 'no solid fuel fire policy' in Paroo-Darling National Park all year round. This park fire ban will remain in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Willandra National Park is CLOSED from Friday 6th to Friday 13th June 2025 due to proposed wet weather.
The Mossgiel Road and Whealbah Road into park may be closed. Please check the Carrathool Shire Council website for more information on road conditions.

At present Woolshed Drive is open allowing access to the Historic Woolshed, Emu Lake campground and Kinchega Shearers Quarters. Lake Drive is also open allowing access to the Morton Boulka day use area and the Cawndilla campground. All other roads remain closed. i.e. River Drive and campsites, and Tandou Road all remain closed. These closures will be updated as conditions change. Gundabooka Yapa ( Mulgowan) Area will be closed to the public from Monday 28th April 2025 and will reopen 30th June 2025.
The Yapa (Mulgowan) Art site will be under construction and not accessible for this period.

Council-managed access roads to Mungo National Park are unsealed and in variable condition. Before travelling on any unsealed roads, please check road condition reports for Balranald, Wentworth and Central Darling Shires. Do not travel on closed Council roads.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program in Lachlan Valley National Park, Hunthawang Precinct from Saturday 26 April 2025 to Wednesday 7 May 2025. Lachlan Valley National Park, Hunthawag Precinct will be closed for this operation. The operation will involve the use of meat baits and meat bait products containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes.
The program is designed to minimise predator impact on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of foxes on neighbouring stock.
Signs will be placed at the entry points to baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks and Reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
