Closed areas: Pulpit Rock Carpark Closed - Beowa National Park

Pulpit Rock Carpark will be closed from the 26 May - 9th June 2025. Members of the public can still access the area but they will need to park off the side of the road and walk in as the carpark surface will be having works completed.

Other planned events: Notice of 1080 ongoing baiting program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Monday 03 March 2025 to Monday 29 September 2025. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and/or foxes.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species and will take place in:

  • Araluen Nature Reserve
  • Badja Swamps Nature Reserve
  • Beowa National Park
  • Berlang State Conservation Area
  • Bondi Gulf Nature Reserve
  • Bournda National Park
  • Bournda Nature Reserve
  • Coolumbooka Nature Reserve
  • Deua National Park
  • Eurobodalla National Park
  • Kooraban National Park
  • Majors Creek State Conservation Area
  • Mimosa Rocks National Park
  • Monga National Park and State Conservation Area
  • South East Forest National Park
  • Wadbilliga National Park

Signs will be placed at the entry to baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands.

Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Green Cape Cottages and Telegraph Station bunkhouse are closed 1 July to 30 December 2025 due to construction works.

Contractors will be undertaking internal refurbishments, re-roofing and addressing ongoing moisture issues.

Please note, Green Cape lookout, carpark and surrounds will remain OPEN to the public.

For your safety, please obey all signage and direction from NPWS staff and contractors.

Closed areas: Merrica River Car Park Closed to Vehicles until 21/6/25

The Merrica River Carpark is closed and gated for road surface maintenance until 20 June. Vehicles must park in the smaller carpark on the north side of the Merrica river. Pedestrians may still access the Wilderness Walk and Merrica River Nature Trail when the river is safe to cross on foot. Be aware of heavy plant and trucks working in the carpark.

Roadworks will be underway on fire trails in Mimosa Rocks National Park from Tuesday 3 June to Monday 30 June 2025.

The program will be ongoing and continuous from Monday 14th April to Wednesday 30th September 2025. The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Safety alerts: Gillards Beach access steps closed until further notice

The 4 southern beach access points at Gillards Campground are currently closed due to severe erosion. Successive large seas have removed large amounts of sand from the beach resulting in these access points being unusable.

Park users staying in sites 1 to 17 should use the beach access steps to the north instead which is easily accessible via a short walk.

Beach access steps for sites 19 to 39 currently remain open.

Kanoonah Road in Coolangubra section of South East Forests National Park is closed from Myanba Falls Road through to the northern park boundary due to a major landslip.
