  • This park is in a remote location and the weather can be extreme and unpredictable, so please ensure you’re well-prepared for your visit.
  • There is limited mobile reception in this park.
  • It's a good idea to fill in the free trip intention form and hire a PLB before you set out. Bring a topographic map and compass or GPS.
  • Remember to take your binoculars if you want to go birdwatching

Boyd River loop is the perfect cycling adventure for all skill levels. Enjoy the peaceful scenery of open forest as you follow this easy 21km circuit through Kanangra-Boyd National Park. This relaxed ride is a great way to explore the area at your own pace and take in the wild beauty and rich birdlife of the region.

Start your journey at Boyd River campground and follow Kanangra Walls Road south onto Morong Creek fire trail. Just past Hanrahans Creek crossing, look for Morong Falls fire trail on the left. From here you can take an optional 7.3km return detour to cool off in the beautiful natural swimming hole at Morong Falls.

Prepare to get wet crossing Morong Creek before taking the Boyd River fire trail back to Kanangra Walls Road. Enjoy the gentle downhill trail as you return to Boyd River campground to complete Boyd River loop.

You can relax after your ride with an overnight stay at Boyd River campground or continue your cycling adventure and take on the more challenging Mount Emperor loop nearby.
