Safety alerts: Haulage trucks using Old Bells Line of Rd
Haulage trucks are in operation along Old Bells Line of Rd between the park entrance near Chifley Road (Zig Zag Railway) and Clarence Sands during the following times:
• Monday to Friday: 04.00 to 18.00
• Saturday: 04.00 to 13.00
During these times road users are reminded to:
• drive with caution
• adhere to the speed limit of 40 km/hr
• listen for truck movements via UHF-11

Closed areas: Parts of Blue Mountains National Park closed
Many roads, fire trails and walking tracks in Blue Mountains National Park are closed due to infrastructure upgrades or damage caused by wet weather including subsidence, rockfalls, landslides and fallen trees.
The following tracks are closed:
Katoomba and Leura
- Mt Solitary Loop is only accessible via Kedumba Valley Road and Furber Stairs. No access to Leura Forest or Sublime Pt Fire Trail.
- Giant Stairway is closed from Monday 28 April for maintenance. There is no access in or out of the valley via Giant Stairway.
- Narrow Neck Fire Trail (Glenrapheal Drive) is closed to vehicles near Cliff Drive due to a landslide. Walkers and Cyclists permitted.
- Honeymoon Bridge is closed due to rockfall risk.
- Federal Pass, Dardanelles Pass (between Furber Steps and Leura Forest) and Ampitheatre walking tracks will be closed until 3 June due to recent heavy rains and the elevated risk of landslides and rockfall.
- Leura Cascades Parking Area and toilets are closed. Visit the Blue Mountains City Council website for information.
- Fern Bower track between Prince Henry Cliff walk and Amphitheatre track is closed due to landslides.
- Golden Stairs walking track is closed due to landslides and rock fall. There is no access from Glenraphael Drive to Ruined Castle, Federal Pass or Scenic World. Ruined Castle and Mt Solitary can be accessed from Federal Pass (via Furber Steps) or Kedumba Pass.
- Sublime Point Fire trail is closed for roads maintenance. Planned works will be over 5 weeks, commencing 26/05/2025
- Part of Lindeman Pass is closed due to a major landslide below Gladstone lookout. Roberts Pass is closed due to rockfall and landslide hazards.
- Six Foot track is affected by closures at Jenolan Caves.
- Hurley Heights Trail and Rocklily Ridge Trail are closed to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists for road maintenance from Thursday 5 June to Friday 20 June.
Wentworth Falls and Woodford
- Charles Darwin walk (part of Grand Cliff Top walk) is closed between Fletcher Street and Weeping Rock. Detours are in place to provide directions to Wentworth Falls picnic area. Visit the Blue Mountains City Council website for information.
- Kings Tableland Road will be closed for road works from 20 May to the 27 June, 2025. This effectively closes access to Andersons mountain bike route and McMahons Lookout. It also affects one access to Ingar camping area. Vehicle access will only be permitted to residents for this period. Cycling, runners and walkers will be permitted on weekends only.
- Part of National Pass (west of Wentworth Falls middle crossing) is closed due to a major landslide and ongoing risks.
- Wentworth Pass and Slack Stairs are closed due to multiple landslides. No access to Roberts Pass, Hippocrene or Vera Falls. Valley of the Waters track is closed below Sylvia Falls.
- Valley of the Waters is closed for maintenance below Nature track junction from Wednesday 21 May to 30 June 2025. No access to Empress Falls and Sylvia Falls.
- Empress Canyon is closed from Wednesday 21 May to Monday 30 June 2025.
Blackheath, Mount Victoria, Megalong Valley and Bells Line of Road
- Pulpit Rock Reserve, lookouts and walking track are closed. For more information visit the Blue Mountains City Council website. Pulpit Rock walking track from Popes Glen is open as far as the NPWS boundary (as shown on Google maps).
- Govetts descent and Rodriguez Pass are closed due to rockfalls and landslides. The Grose Valley can be accessed from Blackheath via Perrys Lookdown or the Horse track.
- Perrys Lookdown Road will be closed for maintenance from Tuesday 10th June to Friday 13 June 2025. Alternative access to the Grose Valley via Victoria Falls, Pierces Pass, Lockley Pylon or Horse Track.
- Braeside fire trail is closed to vehicles from Friday 30 May until further notice.
Adventure recreation, canyons, abseiling and rock climbing
- Some adventure recreation areas and routes may be closed where the access or exit road/track is mentioned above.

Hartley Historic Site Visitor Centre is closed from 30 May to 27 June 2025 for roof replacement works. During these works there will be no self-guided tours of Hartley Courthouse and Former St Bernards Church and Kew-Y-Ahn Aboriginal Gallery will be closed.

Closed areas: Glow Worm Tunnel Walking Track closed due to heavy rainfall
The section of Glow Worm Tunnel walking track from the Glow Worm Tunnel exit to the 'four ways' intersection, Wolgan Valley will remain closed until further notice.
Recent heavy rainfall has caused landslips along this section of Glow Worm Tunnel walking track.
The Glow Worm Tunnel can still be accessed via the Glow Worm Tunnel carpark. Newnes Industrial Ruins and the Newnes Campgrounds can only be accessed via the Pipeline Track from Glen Davis or by Old Coach Road on weekends.

Safety alerts: Drinking water in Capertee National Park
You'll need to bring your own water for drinking and cooking in Capertee National Park. Water supplied at Capertee Homestead and Capertee Cottage is untreated and only suitable for showering and washing dishes.
Campers at Capertee and Policemans Point campgrounds should not use water from Capertee River for drinking or cooking.
