Occasional steps: There are 32 timber steps after the track passes Monument Beach picnic area. The steps have a handrail.

Other barriers

Other barriers: There are bollards near the end of the track at Walter Hood carpark. Pedestrians can get around the bollards but the gap may be too narrow for prams, wheelchairs and mobility scooters to fit through.

Accessible options

The 500m section of the walk from Holly Street to Monument Beach picnic area is mostly flat and step-free. It may be accessible for people with reduced mobility.

After reaching Monument Beach picnic area, the walk becomes soft sand as it crosses Monument Beach and there's a section that has 32 timber steps.

    • Park at the end of Holly Street in North Bendalong and head north along the walking track

    Autumn

    As the temperature cools slightly, this a great time to get active in the park with some bushwalking and mountain biking.

    Spring

    The wildflowers – waratahs and wattle among them – are in full bloom, bringing with them large numbers of birds. You might even be lucky enough to spot the rare Scalet Honeyeater or Little Lorikeet.

    Summer

    Hot weather means plenty of time for the beach and water. Keep an eye open for the endangered hooded plover and other shorebirds foraging on the sand.

    Winter

    The light is clear and beautiful and the beaches and trails very quiet – just the thing if you prefer exploring with few other people around.
