For those into kayaking, canoeing or fishing, Moonee Creek canoe route is the ideal alternative way to enjoy the reserve. This pristine estuary is at the southern end of Moonee Beach.
Gara Gorge lookout is accessed via an easy hike along Threlfall walking track, providing birdwatching, picnicking, and scenic views over the spectacular gorge country near Armidale.
Gap Beach picnic area is in Hat Head National Park. It's a great spot to visit when exploring local walking tracks, but to drive there you'll need a 4WD vehicle.
